Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible

Senba is an independent iOS app made by a solo developer. Questions about this policy, or about privacy in the app, go to hello@tennnis.no.

This policy covers the Senba iPhone app, its Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, and this website.

2. What Senba stores, and where

Senba is a local-first app. When you capture a fold, it is written to the app's private storage area on your device. That includes:

• the text you write, and the goals you set;
• audio files for voice notes and ambient recordings;
• photos you take inside the app;
• transcripts of your voice notes, generated on your device;
• short descriptions of your photos, generated on your device;
• numeric representations of your entries used to find related material later;
• small app settings, such as whether you have finished onboarding and which theme you prefer.

None of this is transmitted to the developer. There is no Senba account, no Senba login and no Senba server that receives your content.

3. Optional iCloud sync

Senba can sync your folds between your own Apple devices. This is off by default and you turn it on in the app's settings.

When it is on, your data is stored in the private database of your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. That means:

• the data lives in your iCloud, under your Apple Account, not in any developer-controlled system;
• the developer has no access to it and no way to read, export or delete it;
• Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and the iCloud terms you already agreed to with Apple.

Turn the setting off and Senba stops syncing. Your device keeps its local copy.

4. Everything intelligent happens on the device

Senba does some work in the background so that it can hand your own material back to you later. All of it runs on your iPhone:

• Voice transcription. Voice notes are transcribed with Apple's Speech framework, explicitly configured for on-device recognition. The audio is not sent to Apple's servers or anywhere else.
• Photo descriptions. Photos are described on-device so they can be found again later. The images are not uploaded.
• Finding related entries. Senba computes on-device numeric representations of your entries so it can pick a relevant past fold to resurface.
• Wording. On supported devices, Apple's on-device foundation model is used to phrase a prompt, a notification or a suggested next step. It runs locally. No cloud language model is used, and no cloud model receives your entries.

5. Permissions Senba may ask for

Each of these is requested only when you first use the feature that needs it, and each is optional. Declining one disables that feature, not the app.

• Microphone — to record voice notes and ambient captures.
• Speech recognition — to transcribe those recordings on your device so they can be searched and resurfaced.
• Camera — to take a photo for a photo fold.
• Notifications — to deliver your daily fold and callbacks.

You can change any of these at any time in the iOS Settings app.

6. Notifications

Senba's reminders and callbacks are local notifications, scheduled by your device for your device. They are not push notifications sent from a server, and no notification content ever leaves your phone. Senba does not operate a push service and does not know whether you opened a notification.

7. The supporter purchase

Senba is free. There is one optional, one-time in-app purchase that unlocks supporter status.

The purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Senba never sees your payment details, your name or your Apple Account. The app only asks Apple whether a purchase exists for this device's Apple Account, so it knows whether to show your supporter status. As the developer, the only thing received is Apple's aggregated sales reporting, which does not identify individual buyers.

8. What Senba does not do

• No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. Senba does not measure how you use it.
• No advertising, no ad identifiers, no App Tracking Transparency prompt, because there is nothing to track.
• No third-party SDKs at all. The app is built only on Apple's own frameworks.
• No selling, sharing, renting or trading of data, because none is collected.
• No profiling and no automated decisions that affect you.

The app ships with an Apple privacy manifest that declares no tracking and no collected data types, and its App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.

9. Your control over your data

• Delete a single fold from inside the app.
• Delete everything by deleting the app. Removing an iOS app removes its local storage, including your recordings and photos.
• Remove synced data if you used iCloud sync, in the iOS Settings app under your Apple Account, then iCloud, then Manage Account Storage.

Because the developer holds nothing about you, there is no data export or deletion request to make. If you are in the EU or UK and would ordinarily exercise rights under the GDPR, the honest answer is that there is no personal data held about you to access, correct, port or erase.

The one exception: if you email support, that email and its contents sit in an ordinary mailbox so a reply can be written. Ask and it will be deleted.

10. Children

Senba is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect anything from anyone, of any age. There is no account, no profile and no content submitted to the developer.

11. This website

senba.app is a static site. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and has no tracking pixels. One preference, your paper-or-ink theme choice, is stored locally in your browser and never sent anywhere.

The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers when a page loads. Google may log the IP address of that request. Nothing about you or your use of the app is included.

12. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the effective date at the top of this page will change and the previous behaviour will not be applied retroactively to material already on your device. Since the app collects nothing, meaningful changes would only follow a meaningful change to the app itself.
